    Do you dream of an exciting career as a welder? This qualification will provide you with fundamental knowledge of metal inert gas (MIG) welding, allowing you to gain the basic knowledge needed to operate in the industry.

    Gain practical experience in our cutting-edge welding workshops and learn about welding procedures, equipment, maintenance and health and safety. You will work through five practical tasks and a final knowledge open book test. You will be provided with the relevant safety masks and gloves but will need to provide your own safety boots and overalls.

The Level 1 Light Vehicle Study Programme covers some of the basics that you’ll need to know to start your career, including how to identify the equipment, parts and tools that you’ll be using on a regular basis for vehicle maintenance, as well as health and safety for working in a garage. You’ll gain valuable work experience in the automotive industry and build up your wider skills for the workplace with our Employability Skills Passport preparing you for your future role in the sector. This Study Programme leads directly onto the Level 2 Programme to grow your knowledge and enhance your skills. You could also begin an Apprenticeship in the motor trade.

You can apply to go straight into employment in a uniformed public service following the course or do further studies at University in criminology, law or associated disciplines.

You can learn all about these services and how you can progress into them on the Level 2 Uniformed Public Service Study Programme. You’ll get the chance to take part in a range of outdoor adventurous activities and a two day expedition developing your ability to work as part of a team, and your leadership skills alongside working on your own fitness and discipline. The programme allows you to engage with a range of public services personnel from different walks of life. You’ll do work experience in public service and enhance your CV with additional study in maths, English and our Employability Skills Passport. This course leads onto the Level 3 Programme or an application into employment in the UPS.

    If you’re interested in sport, the human body and being active, the Level 3 Sport Study Programme gives you a rigorous understanding of the elements that you’ll need to know to get into a career in the health and fitness industry. You’ll study anatomy and physiology, learn about coaching techniques and how to improve people’s performances in sports and in the gym. You’ll also study sports development including provision for disabilities and fro young people. You’ll do work experience tied directly to the sports industry and work on your maths, English and additional employability skills alongside the main programme. This Programme can lead directly into a Degree in a sports related subject such as a BSc (Hons) Physical Education. You can also get a role in the industry at entry level as a sports development officer, sports coach or a fitness instructor.

The Level 3 Performing or Production Arts Study Programme will help you to develop your talents for the stage, whether singing, dancing or acting. You’ll learn a range of dance styles including jazz, tap, ballet and contemporary, study improvisation and scripted acting, and take part in a number of practical workshops to help you prepare for working on stage or on camera. The programme helps you prepare pieces for auditions for stage school or for university, as well as giving you work experience helping you boost your CV. This programme can help you with becoming a trained actor, dancer or singer. You can go onto set up your own stage company or become a teacher after studying a performance-related degree.

You’ll learn about vehicle electrical systems, how to replace engines and their components, along with working on chassis systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, transmission systems and inspection servicing. To ensure you’re well prepared for the world of work, Harrogate College also offer alongside your Programme help with your maths, English and wider employability skills for the sector. From this course, you can begin work in the motor trade at entry level as a service technician or diagnostic technician, or you can progress your studies with our Level 3 Study Programme.
