  2. Uniformed Public Services Level 2

    Are you are interested in the uniformed public services (UPS) such as the police, the RAF or the fire service? You can learn all about these services and how you can progress into them on the Level 2 Uniformed Public Service Study Programme. You’ll get the chance to take part in a range of outdoor adventurous activities and a two day expedition developing your ability to work as part of a team, and your leadership skills alongside working on your own fitness and discipline. The programme allows you to engage with a range of public services personnel from different walks of life. You’ll do work experience in public service and enhance your CV with additional study in maths, English and our Employability Skills Passport. This course leads onto the Level 3 Programme or an application into employment in the UPS.

Covering coaching and participating in sports, personal exercise, fitness and nutrition and tactical awareness, the course is a good balance of practical work and theoretical application, teaching you what you need to know in the classroom and the applying it in you hands-on work experience. With real world assessments, planning training programmes for clients and delivering sports events to primary schools, you’ll really get a feel for your future career. You can progress onto the Level 3 Programme as you move into your career as a coach, fitness instructor or leisure attendant – just a sample of the varied roles you could aim for in this industry.

  4. Vehicle Management Systems Level 2

    Gaining the specialist technical knowledge that you need to know to work in the motor trade is the first step. The Level 2 programme teaches you about the job roles within the sector, materials and tools that you’ll be using, and on-the-job health and safety. You’ll learn about vehicle electrical systems, how to replace engines and their components, along with working on chassis systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, transmission systems and inspection servicing. To ensure you’re well prepared for the world of work, Harrogate College also offer alongside your Programme help with your maths, English and wider employability skills for the sector. From this course, you can begin work in the motor trade at entry level as a service technician or diagnostic technician, or you can progress your studies with our Level 3 Study Programme.

  5. Performing & Production Arts Level 2

This Study Programme gives you the opportunity to try out and improve the skills that you’ll utilise on stage or on set. You’ll appear in scripted plays and musical theatre projects, work in a range of venues and roles, and get to experience life as a professional by doing work experience in the performing arts sector. With accompanying maths, English and employability skills supporting the Programme, you’ll develop your abilities ready for the next step in your exciting career. Following on from the Level 2 Programme, you can move up to the Level 3 Performing Arts Study Programme, helping you to gain roles in TV, theatre and the entertainment industry.

  6. Health and Social Care Level 2

    This is a one year course which consists of internal assessments and placement. The units you will study include human growth and development, equality and diversity and public health. Completion of this course with the relevant grades will allow progression onto level 3 or into the world of work.

    If you want to work backstage or on-set doing hair and makeup for performers, the Level 2 Hair and Media Makeup Study Programme teaches you a comprehensive range of skills to get you started. You’ll study hairdressing skills including how to style, dress and colour hair using semi-permanent colour, how to do photographic makeup, body art and tanning, alongside key skills you’ll need for working with people in the industry, such as; client consultation, customer care and communication. With help for your maths and English as part of the Programme and our Employability Skills Passport, this course prepares you for moving into work. You’ll complete this Programme with a broad spectrum of skills for working on makeup and hair for performance and photography. You can start work on set or backstage, or continue your studies and progress onto our Level 3 Study programme.

To get you there, the Level 2 Hairdressing Study Programme teaches you a wide range of skills that you’ll be using every day in your role as a hair stylist, from shampooing and how to look after a client’s scalp to cutting, styling and colouring hair. You’ll also learn key employability skills for the hairdressing industry and wider sectors while building up your maths and English abilities. With work experience in a salon or a customer service role, you’ll be well prepared to take the next step on completion of this course. From here, you can go onto work in a salon with an Apprenticeship or as a junior, or go on to further your studies and learn more advanced techniques with our Level 3 Study programme.
