    If you want to work backstage or on-set doing hair and makeup for performers, the Level 2 Hair and Media Makeup Study Programme teaches you a comprehensive range of skills to get you started. You’ll study hairdressing skills including how to style, dress and colour hair using semi-permanent colour, how to do photographic makeup, body art and tanning, alongside key skills you’ll need for working with people in the industry, such as; client consultation, customer care and communication. With help for your maths and English as part of the Programme and our Employability Skills Passport, this course prepares you for moving into work. You’ll complete this Programme with a broad spectrum of skills for working on makeup and hair for performance and photography. You can start work on set or backstage, or continue your studies and progress onto our Level 3 Study programme.

    Learning the skills to make performers look good under lights and cameras, the Level 3 Media and Theatrical Makeup Study Programme prepares you for work behind the scenes in film, television and a variety of settings. You’ll study advanced hairdressing skills, body art, air brush makeup, theatrical makeup and special effects makeup, learning how to properly apply prosthetic pieces – all the advanced skills that you need in your future exciting career. You’ll also build up wider skills such as communication skills, working as a team, and working with clients and colleagues. You can continue from this course in to a Level 4 Programme such as a HND or Degree, or can begin your career in television, theatre, or as a makeup artist in a salon.

    Working in a hairdressing salon is a fast-paced and exciting career. To get you there, the Level 2 Hairdressing Study Programme teaches you a wide range of skills that you’ll be using every day in your role as a hair stylist, from shampooing and how to look after a client’s scalp to cutting, styling and colouring hair. You’ll also learn key employability skills for the hairdressing industry and wider sectors while building up your maths and English abilities. With work experience in a salon or a customer service role, you’ll be well prepared to take the next step on completion of this course. From here, you can go onto work in a salon with an Apprenticeship or as a junior, or go on to further your studies and learn more advanced techniques with our Level 3 Study programme.

    If you’re looking to work in the beauty industry, then the Level 3 Beauty Therapy Study programme teaches you the advanced skills that you will be expected to have. From body and aromatherapy massage through to tanning and Indian head massage, you’ll learn practical skills as well as how to conduct yourself to deliver good customer service in the beauty salon. You’ll do work experience in the beauty industry to put your skills to the test in a professional environment and also take part in our Employability Skills Passport Programme to gain wider skills for the workplace for when you start work. You’ll be prepared to start work in a spa, hotel or salon as a beauty therapist on graduation. If you want to progress in your studies further, you could go onto a HNC/D in Hair and Beauty management.

  6. Beauty Therapy Level 2

    Most people want to look their best. A career as a beauty therapist can teach you the skills that you need to make this a reality. Starting out with the Level 2 Beauty Therapy Study Programme, we will teach you all about the theory of beauty therapy and how to carry out a full range of treatments. These include manicures, pedicures, tanning, waxing, facials, eye treatments and makeup. With work experience gained working in the salon, you can also study health and safety in the beauty sector and about providing excellent customer services. You’ll also study maths and English as part of the programme to boost your abilities in these vital areas. From here you can start out in your career as a beauty therapist, consultant or makeup technician, or you can advance your skills further with a Level 3 Study Programme.
