    A career in public services takes hard work, dedication and the willingness to work as part of a team. The Level 3 Uniformed Public Service Study Programme can instil these qualities in you while working on the core knowledge that you’ll need to start your career. You’ll study leadership and team work, government policies, and about citizenship and diversity. We’ll go on outdoor and adventurous expeditions; on land and on water. You’ll get the opportunity to engage with a range of public services personnel from different walks of life to help you to plan your next career move. With our Employability Skills Passport, you’ll also develop wider skills to help in your future role. You can apply to go straight into employment in a uniformed public service following the course or do further studies at University in criminology, law or associated disciplines.

    Are you are interested in the uniformed public services (UPS) such as the police, the RAF or the fire service? You can learn all about these services and how you can progress into them on the Level 2 Uniformed Public Service Study Programme. You’ll get the chance to take part in a range of outdoor adventurous activities and a two day expedition developing your ability to work as part of a team, and your leadership skills alongside working on your own fitness and discipline. The programme allows you to engage with a range of public services personnel from different walks of life. You’ll do work experience in public service and enhance your CV with additional study in maths, English and our Employability Skills Passport. This course leads onto the Level 3 Programme or an application into employment in the UPS.

    If you’re interested in sport, the human body and being active, the Level 3 Sport Study Programme gives you a rigorous understanding of the elements that you’ll need to know to get into a career in the health and fitness industry. You’ll study anatomy and physiology, learn about coaching techniques and how to improve people’s performances in sports and in the gym. You’ll also study sports development including provision for disabilities and fro young people. You’ll do work experience tied directly to the sports industry and work on your maths, English and additional employability skills alongside the main programme. This Programme can lead directly into a Degree in a sports related subject such as a BSc (Hons) Physical Education. You can also get a role in the industry at entry level as a sports development officer, sports coach or a fitness instructor.

    The Level 2 Sports Study Programme gives you an all-round look at the sports industry and teaches you vital skills that you’ll need to know to go into a career in the sector. Covering coaching and participating in sports, personal exercise, fitness and nutrition and tactical awareness, the course is a good balance of practical work and theoretical application, teaching you what you need to know in the classroom and the applying it in you hands-on work experience. With real world assessments, planning training programmes for clients and delivering sports events to primary schools, you’ll really get a feel for your future career. You can progress onto the Level 3 Programme as you move into your career as a coach, fitness instructor or leisure attendant – just a sample of the varied roles you could aim for in this industry.
